I love to cook, and I love to take pictures. Voila - a food blog!

Named after my closely held belief that almost any dish becomes tastier with lemon + salt.

Spicy Sesame Green Beans

Spicy Sesame Green Beans

  • 12 oz green beans, ends trimmed
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sriracha
  • Red pepper flakes and toasted sesame seeds to taste

Prepare an ice water bath in a large bowl. Bring a large pot of generously salted water to boil. Add green beans and cook until they turn a vibrant green color, 3-5 minutes. Drain and transfer beans immediately to ice bath. (This part can be done up to a couple hours ahead of meal time – just dry and wrap the blanched green beans in paper towels and return to fridge until ready to use).

Mix soy sauce, sesame oil and sriracha in a small bowl and stir to combine. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add green beans and sauce mixture and stir constantly until beans are hot and sauce is beginning to congeal. – 1-2 minutes. Add red pepper flakes and sesame seeds, stir to combine, then plate and serve immediately.
